This electric vehicle has a range of 1,000 kilometers and is coming to the Netherlands

For EV skeptics, limited range is an increasingly less valid argument as the range of electric cars continues to increase. Take this Nio ET7, which covered no less than 1,044 kilometers on a single charge.

In the Netherlands, the model is already available with 75 or 100 kWh battery capacity. This means that the range according to the WLTP measurement method is 445 or 580 kilometers.

How is an electric range of more than 1,000 kilometers possible?

To enable a Nio ET7 to travel 1,044 kilometers on a single charge, the electric car was equipped with the new Ultra Long Range battery pack. This battery has a capacity of 150 kWh and will also be used in Dutch Nio models in the future. According to the Chinese car brand, it offers the highest capacity and energy density in the range of mass-produced battery packs.

Please note that this is a real-world test conducted by Nio with founder and CEO William Li behind the wheel of the electric vehicle. Stand most of the journey Assisted driving (the semi-autonomous driving mode).

Nio ET7 as an economical electric car

The 1,044 therefore does not have the WLTP range of the Nio ET7 Ultra Long Range with 150 kWh battery. The electric vehicle journey through China took a total of 14 hours, including more than an hour and a half of rest breaks. The average speed was 83.9 kilometers per hour.

The range can be achieved with a large battery, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. During the journey, the average consumption was only 13.2 kWh per 100 kilometers. Very neat for an electric car of this size. At the end of the road trip, there was still 3 percent battery charge (and 36 kilometers of range) left.

After successfully completing the range test, Nio CEO William Li emphasized that reaching the magic limit of 1,000 kilometers was an important milestone for smart electric cars. According to the CEO, this will significantly advance the transition from fossil fuel driving to electric driving in the automotive industry.
