You’ll never guess which F1 driver owns this souped-up Toyota Supra
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton’s fleet is very impressive, but none of the F1 world champions have this heavily pimped Toyota Supra in their collection. Which Formula 1 driver does it belong to?
Well, it’s kind of a trick question. The Toyota does not belong to one of the current drivers, but to New Zealander Liam Lawson. He is a reserve driver for Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri and has been behind the wheel of Daniel Ricciardo’s F1 car several times this year. The Australian broke his hand at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Zandvoort and was therefore temporarily unable to drive.
Tuned Toyota Supra
Lawson drove himself in some good races in the picture. Now he runs it Headlight get even more intense by starting your own YouTube channel. There he posts vlogs about his life as a driver. In his first video he says: Hello YouTube He will collect his car from UK Auto ID, which has thoroughly overhauled his Toyota Supra.
Lawson seems to be a real person off the track, too Gasoline head. “Most drivers have little interest in tuning road cars,” says the Formula 1 reserve driver in the Auto ID video above about his Toyota Supra. “Being crazy about street cars is a completely different passion than driving on the track.”
F1 reserve driver Liam Lawson’s first car
Lawson has a passion for both and in his own vlog the New Zealander says he bought the GR Supra six months ago. It is only his first car, as he has always been able to use rental cars. Now that Lawson has his own Toyota Supra, he can’t resist heavily modifying it.
Liam Lawson bought the Toyota in black, but now it has a green wrap. “Inspired by TJ Hunt’s Lamborghini.” Even though it already has other wheels on it, he still wants to change it to gold-colored wheels. According to the F1 reserve driver, these look better with the green. In addition, the LED strip in the headlights is no longer white, but yellow.
Not even half as powerful as a Formula 1 car
In addition, the Toyota Supra is equipped with different bumpers. Lawson wants to be unique, so he bought the front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts and huge fender from different manufacturers. Therefore, there is little chance that there is already such a Supra on the road.
The Japanese-German car is no longer standard under the hood either. “The B58 engine is easy to tune,” says Liam Lawson. His Toyota Supra currently has one Level 2 melody. “I now have a different air intake, downpipe and exhaust system.” According to the Formula 1 reserve driver, it should be enough for around 450 hp at the wheels. So wheels with semi-slicks. “I feel kind of sorry about this here in England.” Fortunately, the 21-year-old has experience with 1,000 hp F1 cars.
