Chinese Cybertruck competitor is being prepared for Europe

Chinese Cybertruck competitor is being prepared for Europe

Tesla’s first Cybertrucks are a fact. At least in America. The question remains whether electric cars will also find their way onto our continent. That means space in Europe for other robust electric vehicles. For example the M-Hero 917 from the Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng.

Dongfeng is a major Chinese automobile manufacturer. They not only build their own cars, but also work closely with Honda, for example.

The Chinese Cybertruck

Dongfeng is already in Europe. For example, we previously drove the Seres 3 for Autovisie Magazine. If we look at the RDW data, we even see a handful of Seres 5. This model is not yet shipping in our country.

The Chinese Cybertruck competitor called M-Hero 917 is also not yet available. However, the electric vehicle is already on the road in China and is a competitor to the YangWang U8.

The M-Hero 917

It’s an impressive device. There are two variants to choose from in China. The first is an all-electric version with four motors that produce a combined 1,088 horsepower. The battery in the floor has a capacity of 142.7 kWh. You only need 505 kilometers for this. So the giant isn’t really economical. Although we wouldn’t have expected that with this body shape.

The second powertrain features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that acts as a range extender. The gasoline engine can supply energy to both the 65.8 kWh battery and the three electric motors (one on the front axle and two on the rear axle). With this version you can drive up to 200 kilometers purely electrically.

This costs the Cybertruck competitor

Converted into euros, the fully electric Dongfeng M-Hero 917 costs just under 91,000 euros. This would make it not much cheaper than the Tesla Cybertruck in the Cyberbeast version. Although the American has better specifications.

What the Tesla Cybertruck doesn’t have is a drone package. For around 13,000 euros you can get a voice-controlled drone and a landing pad on your electric vehicle in China.

To Europe

The M-Hero 917 is a special car and does not really seem to be a suitable electric vehicle for Europe due, among other things, to its weight of almost 3,300 kilograms (fully electric version). Nevertheless, Dongfeng is seriously testing the model for Europe. The brand will even hire Europeans to get feedback on their product.

Car news China According to its own information, the brand focuses primarily on Germany, France, Sweden and Norway. It remains to be seen whether we will ever see the model on our continent. Would you like to stay up to date with this news? Then subscribe to Autovisie’s free newsletter.
