This Mercedes S-Class is “simply the best” and “better than all the others”
And we can keep going like this for a while. I write that this evening, as a “typical man”, we would like to drive this Mercedes S-Class W140 to “Nutbush City Limits” to pick up a “Private Dancer”.
You guessed it, this Mercedes S-Class once belonged to Anna Mae Bullock. Sorry, Tina Turner, one of the most successful artists of all time, with a career that spanned from 1959 to 2009.
I liked fast cars
Turner died in May of this year at the age of 83. She had lived in Switzerland for almost thirty years and apparently had excellent taste in cars. By his own admission, Turner liked fast cars.
She once owned a Jaguar
Mercedes S-Class from 1995
When Turner moved to Switzerland in the early 1990s, she needed a new set of wheels and that was the Mercedes S 320 from the W140 series. It was initially registered with the record company EMI Records AG, but soon came into the possession of Turner himself.
Primitive parking aid
The S 320 is black with a black interior and wooden details on the dashboard. Funny, this example is still a W140 with the extendable “control sticks” on the left and right on the back. They are a primitive form of parking assistance that allows the driver to better see where the car ends.
Six-cylinder in-line engine
Under the hood of this Mercedes S-Class is a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder with 231 hp and 315 Nm of torque. This means it reaches a top speed of 230 km/h and accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
Under the hammer
This Mercedes S-Class from Tina Turner is going under the hammer today, November 25th. The auction house RM Sotheby’s expects a selling price of between 40,000 and 60,000 euros.
