Why this Callum Skye immediately antagonizes the environmental lobby
We hope it doesn’t happen, but after what happened with the Toyota Hilux we’re holding our breath. In the photo above, the Callum Skye is driving through nature. And that is not allowed.
For those who missed our message, Toyota must stop advertising the Hilux in England because the Advertising Standards Authority believes the brand encourages people to drive off-road (read: destroying the environment).
Callum Skye fully electric
Clubs hostile to advertising react happily to the decision, but of course they are just as inconsistent as everything else. For example, I can still find off-road photos on Land Rover’s English Facebook page.
Be that as it may, the environmental lobby will of course not condemn Callum Skye. The thing is fully electric and of course doesn’t really go down rabbit holes and badger burrows. These photos are CGI.
Designer Jaguar F-Type
The Callum Skye is the first car from Ian Callum, who has designed the Aston Martin DB7 and the Jaguar F-Type in the past. In 2019 he founded his own design studio.
In limited edition
This Callum Skye is the prototype of a hardcore off-roader that will go into production in a limited edition. It is just over 4 meters long, has two doors and is said to weigh only 1150 kilos.
The weight distribution will be ideal, says Callum, with 50 percent at the front and 50 percent at the back. We don’t know how powerful it is, but the Skye should reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4 seconds.
The off-road vehicle is said to have a range of more than 270 kilometers with its 42 kWh battery. The charging time still sounds a bit unrealistic, because with the right quick charger the Skye should be full again after 10 minutes.
