Riot police must be deployed for the upcoming Aston Martin Vantage
Shield ready, baton ready, helmet on. Because the future Aston Martin Vantage will really be a hooligan, says design director Marek Reichman.
The Vantage is undergoing a major redesign, making the compact sports car significantly different from the models currently available on the market. Compare it with the transformation from DB11 to DB12.
Aston Martin Vantage vs DB12
According to Reichman, the next Vantage will be a “complete hooligan” that stands out from the DB12 with “tremendous performance.” It will be a sports car rather than the DB12, not a GT.
Vantage, DB12 and DBS are now too similar, says marketing boss Alex Long. “The distinction needs to be much clearer.”
Replace V8 with six-cylinder?
Will AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 be replaced by a six-cylinder in the next Vantage? No, says Long, because its sound doesn’t do justice to “the raw, emotional appeal” of the model.
It’s possible that the Aston Martin Vantage will get the more powerful engine from the Mercedes-AMG SL 63. It is basically the same, but produces 585 hp instead of 510. The V12 Vantage will likely return when the smallest Aston gets its update.
