Why we have to thank everyone who has bought a Mini John Cooper Works Countryman
Not long ago Mini introduced the new Countryman. The large SUV is now also offered in a John Cooper Works sports version (JCW). As Dutch people, we can thank the people who bought the car.
The Mini Countryman shares its platform with the BMW X1 and X2. This JCW also gets the same powertrain as the M35i xDrive. However, this doesn’t mean that both cars drive exactly the same as we know from the previous generation.

Under the hood of the Mini is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that uses two turbos to produce 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The model sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.4 seconds and acceleration only ends at 250 kilometers per hour.
The four-cylinder engine sends its exhaust gases to the outside via an exhaust system that can be soundproofed with a valve. The emissions emitted from the four exhaust pipes are the reason why, as Dutch people, we have to thank every owner of a Mini John Cooper Works Countryman.
More than 30,000 euros in taxes
Not because the car is so environmentally friendly. No, because a significant amount of BPM has to be paid for the car. The net price of the Mini John Cooper Works Countryman is 44,009.09 euros.
As a buyer, you will spend another 22,439 euros on BPM and the VAT will also be more than 9,000 euros. The starting price of the sporty Countryman is, don’t worry, 75,690 euros. That’s cheaper than the BMW X1 M35i xDrive. This one costs almost 84 grand.
The standard Mini Countryman starts at just under 46 grand. It remains to be seen whether the JCW version is worth the additional 30,000 euros. Want to stay up to date with all the car news and the latest tests from Autovisie? Then subscribe to our free newsletter.
