Would you pay more than 1 million euros for a Nissan?
The currently most expensive Nissan, the X-Trail, is available to buy new from 50,000 euros. And the most expensive Nissan GT-R we see on Accelerator costs 2 tons.
So the question is: why should you pay more than 1.1 million euros for the Nissan GT-R that will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s on November 25th? Because the 2021 car is of course not just any GT-R.
Nissan GT-R50 celebrates its fiftieth anniversary
The model is called GT-R50 and was developed by Nissan in collaboration with Italdesign. Why? Because both companies had something to celebrate: 50 years of GT-R and 50 years of Italdesign.
Nobody wanted her
Only 50 copies of the Nissan GT-R50 would be built, each costing 990,000 euros. However, wealthy collectors turned up their noses. In the end only eighteen were sold.
More powerful 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6
The GT-R50 doesn’t just look different from the Nissan GT-R. Under the hood, it received a modified V6 with new fuel injectors, larger turbos, improved pistons and a different exhaust.
The result is an output of 720 hp and 780 Nm of torque. That’s significantly more than the Nissan GT-R Nismo, on which the GT-R50 is based and which produces 600 hp and 625 Nm.
Nissan GT-R without all-wheel drive
In addition, the GT-R50 no longer has all-wheel drive like all GT-Rs, but only rear-wheel drive. It also uses special, adjustable dampers from Bilstein.
Never delivered to customer
This silver-colored Nissan cost 1,050,000 euros new including some options and is number eleven of eighteen. It was built in 2021 and somehow never delivered to a customer.
The GT-R50 has spent the last two years in storage and is therefore as good as new with just 191 kilometers on the clock. Delivery kilometers, as they call it.
