For the money of a Polo you can buy the most polluting car
Autovisie is always looking for used cars for enthusiasts and therefore searches the lists on the sales site Gaspedal.nl. This time we found a used car for someone who doesn’t like downsizing and isn’t afraid of frequent refueling: a Dodge Ram 1500 8.3 V10 for the money of a Volkswagen Polo.
Of course, it’s not a financially sensible decision to buy a fat American instead of a Polo. For example, the vehicle tax and fuel consumption are significantly higher for the Dodge. Still, a ten-cylinder is cool!
A Dodge Ram 1500 V10 for the money of a Volkswagen Polo
A Volkswagen Polo has a starting price of – don’t worry – 25,890 euros. For this money you can get a 1.0 liter MPI engine that produces 80 hp, or you can buy a used car with a big V10.
In our opinion, the Dodge Ram 1500 has much more power, 506 hp to be precise. It is powered by an 8.3-liter V10. The gas guzzler has to tow a weight of 2,624. The colossus sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 6 seconds.
The most polluting used car
An English study by the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) once concluded that the Dodge Ram SRT-10 was the most polluting car on the market. The colossus emits 488 grams of CO2 into the air per kilometer. According to the estimated estimate, four square kilometers of forest (more than 320 mature trees) will be needed to absorb the annual emissions from the used car.
Not good for the environment this time. However, you can (still) take it on the road. To prevent you from going completely bankrupt due to fuel costs, an LPG tank has been installed in the used car. The car now has 154,000 kilometers of experience. The price is 24,800 euros, around 100 euros less than a Volkswagen Polo.
