In two years the Volvo EX30 will be less Chinese but no longer Swedish
We saw it immediately when we first met the EX30. The Volvo EX30 has a good chance of becoming a bestseller. The manufacturer is also aware of this and will therefore ramp up production by 2025. As a result, in two years the EX30 will be less Chinese.
Volvo is part of the Geely group, which also includes Lotus and Polestar. The EX30 is therefore produced in Zhangjiakou, China, but the Chinese factory alone is not enough.
Volvo EX30 from Ghent
The EX30 will also go into production in two years on the production line on which the XC40 and C40 are currently rolling off the assembly line. And this factory is much closer to home than you might think. Volvo has a production facility in Ghent, Belgium.
They already have a lot of experience with electric cars there. Last year, a third of all cars that came off the assembly line there were electric vehicles. No wonder, because Volvo wants to be fully electric by 2030.
The brand’s cheapest electric car
In the Netherlands, the Volvo EX30 is available from 36,794.99 euros. For this money you get the version with an LFP battery and a range of 344 kilometers. The battery drives an electric motor that produces 272 hp. All power is sent to the rear wheels.
However, not every EX30 is so affordable. If you consider all the options, you’ll spend over 57 grand. You can see what Volvo’s cheapest electric car looks like here.
