This new Honda is part of a reboot from Bassie & Adriaan

Make it dark red, draw a yellow dotted line across the flanks and give eyelashes to the headlights. Then this new Honda Prelude can be used in a modern reboot by Bassie & Adriaan.

We always found the name Prelude strange. Because why do you call a car an “introduction” or “foreplay”? Because in Japan you probably don’t always understand the nuances of the English language.

Five generations of Honda Prelude

Starting in 1978, there were five generations of the Honda Prelude. All were also sold in the Netherlands. The last Prelude – the one with the square headlights – disappeared from the market in 2001.

Series-ready coupe

Honda is showing a new Prelude at the current Tokyo Auto Show. The model is again a two-door coupé and appears to be very ready for series production.

The designers have turned it into an elegant two-door car that, oddly enough, clearly has a few Toyota elements. We know the fenders under the headlights from the new Prius.

Can go into production without any problem

Honda has announced virtually nothing about the Prelude. There’s no doubt it’s fully electric, but that’s all we know. In any case, it looks like the car is a dummy, with no interior.

Will the new Prelude go into production? That could definitely be possible. According to CEO Toshihiro Mibe, the concept car is “the prelude to our future model.” So we will definitely see him again.
