With these dinosaurs, Jaguar says goodbye to the F-Type

Dinosaur? We call the F-Type that for two reasons. Firstly, the British sports car is already ten years old and secondly, Jaguar itself admits that it will only “become a modern luxury brand” from 2025.

At the beginning of the year, Autovisie took a road trip through Spain with the Jaguar F-Type. This is intended to commemorate the impending retirement of the last Jaguar sports car with a combustion engine.

Jaguar F-Type will be phased out in 2024

Production of the F-Type ends in 2024. A sentence in the press release about these special editions reveals that it has actually been on the market for far too long.

The F-Type has received several awards, writes Jaguar, including the title “World Car Design of 2013”. Nice, but it’s a little sad that Jaguar had to go back ten years to dig this up.

All-electric luxury brand

Of course we all know the reason. Jaguar doesn’t have it easy, with very outdated models and disappointing results. The manufacturer has pinned its hopes on 2025.

Then Jaguar will become a fully electric luxury brand. The brand originally wanted to introduce an electric XJ in 2022 (the prototypes were already driving around), but that was canceled at the last minute.

One hundred and fifty copies

Before Jaguar says goodbye to the combustion engine, there will be a special edition of the F-Type: the ZP Edition, which is inspired by two E-Type racing cars from the 1960s.

Jaguar only builds one hundred and fifty examples of the ZP Edition. They all have the familiar 5.0-liter supercharged V8 at the front. The power source produces 575 hp.

Price F-Type ZP Edition

Two colors are available for the ZP Edition: dark blue with red-black interior and white with dark blue-black interior. The “Roundel” – the white circle on the flanks – is standard.

Both the coupe and convertible have a limited top speed of 300 km/h. The all-wheel drive F-Type reaches 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The ZP Edition costs at least 236,252 euros in the Netherlands.
