This electric Mercedes has such a huge battery!

The Mercedes EQA has a 69.7 kWh battery and a range of almost 500 kilometers. This eActros 600 requires a battery that is almost ten times as large for around the same range.

Tesla Semi, eat your heart out! Competition in the electric truck segment is increasing. Mercedes, for example, is introducing this eActros 600 for long distances.

Electric trucks for long-distance transport

Electric trucks are now ubiquitous, but are mainly used in urban and regional distribution. The flush is still thin over long distances. But that will soon change.

Tesla estimates the Semi will have a real-world range of 500 miles on a single charge. The brand does not provide any information about the capacity of the battery, but it should be between 900 and 1000 kWh.

Mercedes eActross series

The Mercedes eActros 600 is significantly lower. It has three 207 kWh battery packs, which together deliver 621 kWh. That would be enough for a range of around 500 kilometers.

Is that not enough? No, definitely not. Drivers must adhere to the prescribed driving times and the eActros 600 can be quickly charged during breaks. It can be charged with a maximum of 400 kW. The fastest car reaches 270 kW.

The Mercedes is of course also strong. It can tow 22 tons (sometimes more) and has two electric motors. The torque delivers 545 hp and even reaches 817 hp at its peak.

Only profitable after five years

Are transport companies excited about electric trucks? That’s a good question because, according to Mercedes, the eActros 600 will only be more profitable than a diesel truck after five years or 600,000 kilometers.

One-pedal driving possible

The truck brand says the capacity of the batteries should be okay. After ten years and 1.2 million kilometers, they should still have over 80 percent of their capacity left.

Striking: Mercedes’ truck division installs a four-speed gearbox in the eActross 600. When braking, the driver relies primarily on the electric motors. One-pedal driving is possible.
