Dive into the price list: Peugeot 2008 – improved after the facelift?
The Peugeot 2008 has undergone a facelift. In addition to new bumper work, the powertrains have also been updated. By looking at the price list we find out exactly what the new year 2008 has to offer.
The current generation of Peugeot 2008 came onto the market in 2019, four years ago. You can set the watch based on whether the manufacturer thinks it’s time for a facelift, and that’s exactly what happened. In addition to the visual changes, you now get a 10-inch touchscreen as standard, but the biggest news is the updated powertrains.
Greater range Peugeot 2008
The all-electric Peugeot e-2008 in particular is making progress. Thanks to the combination of a more efficiently tuned powertrain and a slightly larger and technically improved battery, the range is now 406 km. That was 345 km (both WLTP). There will be no change to the petrol engines, but a mild hybrid with a 136 hp petrol engine and six-speed automatic transmission will be added next year. It is said to be no less than 15% more efficient than the current PureTech 130.
Engines Peugeot 2008
The engine range of the updated Peugeot 2008 is as follows. First up is the PureTech 100 petrol engine, which is only available with a six-speed manual transmission. Above that is the PureTech 130 petrol engine, which is only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Diesel drivers can still drive to Peugeot and that is no longer a given. The only choice is the BlueHDi 130 with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The numbers in the engine name indicate the performance in horsepower.
The 50 kWh variant with 100 kW (136 hp) remains available for the Peugeot e-2008. The new version with 54 kWh battery has an output of 115 kW (156 hp). As mentioned, the new model has a WLTP range of 406 km, but at 341 km the “old” version also goes further than before.
Prices Peugeot 2008
The updated Peugeot 2008 has a starting price of 30,920 euros. Then you get the PureTech 100 in the Active version. The PureTech 130 costs at least 36,520 euros, but there is also an Allure version. Diesel is available from 40,820 euros and you also get the Allure. For a small additional charge you can get into the new e-2008 with a 54 kWh battery: from 41,420 euros. The “old” 50 kWh version has a starting price of 38,970 euros. If you prefer the GT-Line with sportier equipment instead of Active or Allure, it is possible in combination with the PureTech 130 from 38,620 euros.
Test cars with all the bells and whistles appear on our website often enough, now we’re going for the absolute basic model. What can we take home with us? Definitely the PureTech 100 with a manual transmission. The PureTech 130 is not available for the Active and the step up to the e-2008 with a 50 kWh battery is quite a big step financially. Not to mention the new 54 kWh variant.
Standard equipment Peugeot 2008
Entry-level model or not, a new car is never really naked these days. The Peugeot 2008 also has everything you need on board as standard. A selection: 16-inch steel rims with hubcaps, automatic LED headlights, an analog instrument cluster (which is still there!) with an LCD screen in between, the aforementioned 10-inch touchscreen for infotainment and heated exterior mirrors. Cruise control, emergency braking system, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and rear parking aid are also standard equipment. It wasn’t until the e-2008 that keyless start and some Peugeot Connected services were added.
Outdoor decoration
With the facelift, the color palette of the Peugeot 2008 has become a little less colorful. White, light gray, dark gray, and black are all considered “standard colors,” but you can also choose any of these shades at no additional charge. If you want a “real” color, it costs 250 euros extra for light blue or dark red. Then we will make this investment and choose red. There are no other wheel options within this equipment level.
Interior decoration
There is no choice here: black fabric upholstery is the only option. Good or?
Packages and individual options
There are still a few options. For example, heated front seats (300 euros), a trailer hitch (700 euros) or the navigation package (650 euros, including HD reversing camera). We also check the first and last whether this is convenient or useful.
There’s also a whole list of accessories, from mud flaps and roof racks to parasols and a coffee maker for the cup holder. We won’t go through this list completely, but we will highlight a few things. For example, you can opt for a wireless phone charger for 216 euros (which is usually on the regular options list) and there is also the option to choose different wheels. Well, for 800 euros there are four 16-inch light alloy rims, as an extra set to replace the standard steel rims. If we understand it correctly, this doesn’t include tires.
Put together the new Peugeot 2008 yourself
The bottom line is that we now have a Peugeot 2008 Active PureTech 100 in front of us with a price of 32,120 euros. Despite the few options tested, this is still cheaper than an Allure without options. Of course, you can consider the higher trim levels if you really want more luxury, but we’ve already put together a pretty complete car. Which variant of the new 2008 will you choose?
