Cigarette advertising is only cool on a Lotus Evija
Let’s nuance our heads because, strictly speaking, of course, there are no cigarette ads on this Lotus Evija. It was only painted in the colors of the British cigarette brand John Player. Because that’s where Lotus won the Formula 1 title fifty years ago.
Speaking of Lotus Evija… yes, it still exists. The Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes-AMG One may grab all the attention, but the plug-Lotus, launched in 2019, quietly makes a huge impression. According to Lotus, it is currently the most powerful production car. Because its EV powertrain is no less than 2000 hp and 1700 Nm strong.
Lotus Evija to 300 km/h in 9 seconds (!)
What does that do to performance? Extraterrestrial things if we are to believe the official specs. It goes from zero to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. Okay good. Other hypercars imitate the Lotus Evija.
But it is hard to imagine that the sprint from 0 to 300 km/h takes 9 seconds. Think of the G-forces you have to endure as a passenger…
Fiftieth anniversary of the Formula 1 title
In any case, we don’t really know if Lotus has already delivered Evija’s / Eviji / Evijussen. The electric super sports car has already been postponed a number of times. There are only eight of this special Evija Fittipaldi.
He’s (well…) thinking about the fiftieth anniversary of Emerson Fittipaldi’s first Formula 1 title, which he won in the Lotus Type 72 F1 car.
All 130 copies of Evija have already been sold
According to Lotus, all eight copies of the Evija Fittipaldi have already been sold. Why this number? Because of the old Lotus Type 72 there are only eight left. The total edition of 130 Evija’s is already sold out.
Actually unheard of, because the car has a starting price of around 2 million euros. This brings together a fortune of 260 million euros in Hethel, where Lotus has its headquarters.
Recycled Lotus Type 72 aluminum
A little more about the Evija Fittipaldi… It is of course painted in the iconic black and gold of the former Lotus Formula 1 cars, but also has a real piece of Lotus Type 72 in it.
The round button on the center console that controls the infotainment system is made from recycled aluminum from the classic racing car.
Jenson Button has ordered Lotus Evija
Former Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button has already driven the Lotus Evija. “It sounds like a jet engine,” he says happily. “You think an electric vehicle is quiet, but it certainly isn’t. The torque is astronomically high. It’s awesome. It puts a huge grin on my face. I can’t wait for my own Evija.”
