Dutch electric car alternative for sale for almost nothing
Although the transition to electric driving is well underway, even the cheapest electric car is still very expensive. Fortunately, there is an alternative. For this special occasion you can drive dry and electric for practically nothing.
The cheapest electric vehicle is the Dacia Spring Electric. New it costs just under 22,000 euros. Cheap for an electric city car, but still a lot of money. We found an alternative at a fraction of that price.
Alternative to the electric car
We’re talking about the LEF. The cotton? There’s a good chance you’ve never heard of it. LEF is a tricycle from the Dutch company EV Mobility. According to the law, it is officially a “special moped”, which means that you can use it on the road. Additional advantage: Anyone aged 16 or over can drive. The same applies to this Renault Twizy.
It is a single-seater that is equipped with almost all amenities. You sit dry, it has LED lighting, a digital display, a USB port, 50 liters of luggage space, cruise control and even an adjustable steering wheel for easy entry and exit. The whole thing weighs 100 kilograms and is 2 meters long, 0.75 meters wide and 1.2 meters high. You don’t want to drive it outside of the city because the top speed is only 25 kilometers per hour.
Affordable electric used car
There are electric motors in the two rear wheels with a peak output of just 1.4 hp. You won’t move very quickly, but you can get from A to B in the city dry. There are two battery packs to choose from: a 50 and a 90. These numbers indicate the range that the battery packs offer. If your battery is empty, plug the LEF into the power outlet. A charging station is therefore not necessary.
As a used car, we found an LEF with a range of 90 kilometers for just 1,750 euros. This example was built in 2021 and has traveled 1,065 kilometers since then. According to the provider, the electric tricycle had a new price of 5,300 euros. Still significantly less than a real electric car.
LEF no longer produced
Unfortunately the LEF is no longer produced. The manufacturer EV Mobility reports on its website that the government has changed the rules. “These rules are being adjusted so that our company’s survival is no longer possible at this point.” Founder Erik Vegt regrets this and is now trying to sell the product as a whole to another party. “This includes materials, construction plans, forms and instructions.” We hope that this works so that LEF gets a second chance.
