Of course, a bike is cheaper than a car in the long run. After all, you pay taxes and insurance on your car. Although both amounts are not bad for the occasion.

It’s true that you can buy a car for the money of an electric bike. An electric bike easily costs 2000 euros. This very first hybrid has a price of 1950 euros.
It is not entirely true that this is the first hybrid. Ferdinand Porsche developed the Lohner-Porsche Mixte Hybrid in 1901. This was the first car to use both gasoline and electricity for propulsion. This Toyota Prius was the first production hybrid.
The powertrain of the first generation Toyota Prius
The first-generation Toyota Prius has a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that, together with an electric motor, produces up to 71 hp and 115 Nm of torque. The model sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 13.4 seconds and has a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
It’s not fast, but it’s economical. According to Toyota itself, the Prius consumes 4.2 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.

We find the first generation Toyota Prius for the money of an electric bike. The car is no longer new. The used car dates from 2001 and has driven more than 355,000 kilometers since then.
No one on the street will know that this is a special car. But this model was of great importance for the future of the largest automobile manufacturer in the world: Toyota. So would the model ever achieve classic status?
