Audi is discontinuing the Q4 e-tron 40, which is its successor
Audi is redesigning the Q4 e-tron, making the model more powerful and offering more range. The designation 40 will therefore no longer be visible on the model.
The e-tron Q4 was introduced in 2021 and was available in 35, 40, 45 and 50. The 35 can no longer be ordered and the 40 will therefore also be removed from the range. However, this model still exists under a different label.
The successor to the Audi Q4 e-tron 40
The Audi e-tron 40 was a 204 hp variant with a 77 kWh battery (range 520 kilometers) and rear-wheel drive. The new entry-level model 45 also only has rear-wheel drive, but delivers significantly more power: 286 hp. That’s more than the previous 45 with two electric motors! In addition, the model with the 77 kWh battery goes a little further: 547 kilometers. The brand has not yet announced how much power the 45 Quattros deliver.
The Audi Q4 e-tron 55 now produces 340 hp, which is 41 more than its predecessor. The four-wheel drive vehicles can charge with 175 kW, the rear-wheel drive vehicles with 135 kW.
New function
In addition to more power and greater range, the new Audi Q4 e-tron also receives new functions. For example, from a speed of 90 kilometers per hour, white arrows in the instruments and in the head-up display show whether it is safe to change lanes.
The driver can then activate the turn signal, whereupon the car automatically changes lanes.
Audi is expanding production capacity for the Q4 e-tron
Audi says it is expanding production capacity in response to high demand for the Q4 e-tron. In addition to production in Zwickau, Germany, the electric vehicle will also be built at the Brussels factory from the end of 2023, the factory that now produces the Audi Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron.
