BYD comes with a brand new brand
Chinese manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) will soon come up with a new brand called Fang Cheng Bao. At least that’s what it’s called in China. If the brand ever goes on sale outside of Asia, it will likely get a different name.
Yunfei Li, general manager at BYD, says it doesn’t have a name yet. For the time being, the name “F-Mark” will be used.
New brand from BYD
Fang Cheng Bao will be unveiled in August this year, Li said in an interview with Autovisie. It is still unclear what the first model of the new brand will be. However, as we walked through the BYD test center in Shenzhen, we saw a foil-wrapped BYD pickup truck. The model is currently being tested. Although the grille of the test model bore the letters “BYD”, it is likely that this model is the first Fang Cheng Bao. But that’s speculation.
What we do know is that the new brand uses completely new technologies and places a lot of emphasis on luxury and personalization. The brand is positioned above Yang Wang, the big U8.
Not (yet) to Europe
There is currently no reason to believe that Fang Cheng Bao will come to Europe under a different name. BYD will initially focus on its own brand on our continent. It’s clear that Build Your Dreams sees itself more as a major manufacturer than as a car brand. Like compatriot Geely, for example. They build cars under the name Geely, but also under the name Lotus, Lynk & Co. and many more.
BYD has five brands after introducing the new name: Denza (in collaboration with Daimler), Fang Cheng Bao and Yang Wang are actually three separate brands. Then the BYD that we know in Europe is divided internally into two brands: Ocean (from Seal and Dolphin, among others) and Dynasty (from Han and Tang). Will other brands be added in the future? Because compatriot Geely shows that many brands can be the key to success. Like BYD, one can also speak of a successful manufacturer with its enormous growth.
