Look at that, there we have the better Volkswagen Passat from Skoda
what do we say Can we call the Skoda Superb better than the Volkswagen Passat without even driving a meter? um, yes For two reasons: it’s also available as a sedan, the Passat isn’t, and it’s likely to be cheaper than its group counterpart.
Great car, such a Skoda Superb. Offers everything that the Volkswagen Passat offers and now has a comparable almost premium image. And in the last two years it has sold better in the Netherlands.
Skoda Superb still as a sedan
A look at the sales figures for the Passat is enough to see how far the D-segment has declined. At the end of the 1990s, Volkswagen managed to sell more than 16,000 units a year. There are now around 600 of them.
With consumers preferring to drive an SUV, Volkswagen has decided to release the next-generation Passat as a station wagon only. With the Superb, Skoda continues to stick to the sedan. Under the skin, the Superb and Passat are the same.
A large car of almost 5 meters
Both have become massive cars, with a length of more than 4.9 meters and a stately wheelbase of 2.8 meters. According to Skoda, the interior of the Superb is even more spacious than that of the current generation, in which you as a passenger will not lack for anything.
Incidentally, we only referred to the Superb as a sedan, but strictly speaking the model is a hatchback with a fifth door for access to the luggage compartment. It holds 645 liters. need more? Then tick the combi on the order list, in which 690 liters fit as standard (30 liters more than before).
Automatic DSG gearbox always comes as standard
A dual-clutch automatic transmission is always standard on the Superb. It is available as a 150 hp mild hybrid with cylinder deactivation and as a 204 hp plug-in hybrid.
The latter has a larger battery than before (25.7 vs. 12.7 kWh), so the electric range is now more than 100 kilometers. It is possible to charge the battery with a maximum of 50 kW. The exact specifications and prices will be announced later.
Still umbrellas in the doors
A surprising addition to the equipment is the luggage compartment cover in the Combi, which is now electrically operated. A tablet holder is integrated in the center armrest between the front seats. And yes, the umbrellas in the doors are still there.
