huh?! Alfa Romeo puts 10-year-old car back into production
The Alfa Romeo 4C has not been in production since 2020. And yet he comes back. Alfa Romeo will build a limited number to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the compact sports car.
A bit random, but come on… The initiative for the so-called Alfa Romeo 4C Designer’s Cut comes from Stellantis’ Heritage department. There will be three variants, designed by Allesandro Maccolini.
Alfa Romeo 4C in three new versions
It is the Alfa Romeo 4C Tributo, Corsa and Leggenda. The first is red and apparently inspired by the legendary Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. Corsa and Leggenda are matt gray and light blue respectively.
It is unclear whether these are the cars that go into production. Computer drawings of it will be shared on Stellantis Heritage Division’s social media channels for input from the public, the official statement said. The final specifications will be announced later.
Carbon fiber fairing and four-cylinder turbo engine
Twelve years ago, the 4C was presented to the public as a study model. It was built around a carbon fiber fairing to which two aluminum subframes were attached.
The rear wheels are driven by a 1.75-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with an output of 240 hp. Equipped with a dual-clutch automatic transmission, the Alfa has a top speed of over 250 km/h and accelerates to 100 km/h in around 4.5 seconds.
Second-hand prices are still high
Alfa never managed to make the 4C a sales success. Demand for both the coupe and convertible was disappointing. The coupé was withdrawn from the US market in 2018. For us, the 4C was over two years later.
The fact that the car is so rare doesn’t help the used prices. For a used 4C you currently pay the original new price or even more. So there can be no talk of a write-off for the time being.
