This tells us that Tesla is starting to worry
Tesla never did advertising, marketing, PR and auto shows. Until now. Because the American electric vehicle manufacturer will be represented at the IAA in Munich, which will take place at the beginning of September. Does Tesla sometimes feel that the competition is breathing down its neck?
Tesla was at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2017 and presented the Model 3 there. Four years later, the brand had a stand in Shanghai, because China is the largest market for electric cars.
Tesla boss: “Try advertising anyway”
In addition, Tesla mostly organized its own events, such as the presentation of the Cybertruck to the public. That was in November 2019, when Elon Musk announced that the electric pickup truck would be launched in 2020. As you have just read, that was three years later.
But just as Twitter is subject to Musk’s whims, so is Tesla. A few months ago he suddenly said, “Let’s try advertising and see how it goes.”
New Cybertruck at the Munich trade fair
And Tesla goes even further. At the beginning of September, the manufacturer will be represented as usual at the IAA in Munich, as the organizers confirmed to Automobilwoche. Though Tesla hasn’t confirmed that yet.
It was announced this week that the first Tesla Cybertruck was produced in Texas almost four years after its introduction. It was a wonderful presentation at the time because the side windows, which were supposed to be armored, shattered when someone threw a baseball at them.
We are therefore very curious to see whether the Cybertruck will also be on display in Munich. Auto shows have lost much of their popularity in recent years. The IAA moved from Frankfurt to Munich and last year was significantly smaller than before.
