For more than 3 million euros you too can be the fastest at Goodwood
Traditionally, the shootout takes place at the end of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Supercars, hypercars and racers race up the hill to set the fastest time. This year, the McLaren Solus GT prevailed.
The 840 hp McLaren Solus GT took exactly 45.345 seconds to climb the hill. That means it went up at an average speed of 240 km/h.
McLaren Solus GT with spectacular V10
And the Solus sounded epic, because in the rear there is an atmospheric V10 that runs at a maximum of 10,000 rpm. So no hybrid technology, no murmuring turbos, just ten raging pistons knocking you down and screaming with pleasure.
Only room for one person
McLaren will only build 25 units of the Solus GT and we understand that. Finally, a potential buyer shouldn’t have any family or circle of friends as they don’t fit in.
The name says it all (Solus, Solo…), only one person can travel in the bizarre-looking hypercar: the driver. And he doesn’t have a tram under his butt, he has a racing car.
Ten-cylinder from racing specialist Judd
An absolute racetrack weapon that was presented in digital form as a driving concept car in the PlayStation game Gran Turismo Sport back in 2017. Needless to say, all 25 copies are already taken.
The V10 racing engine in the rear of the Solus GT comes from the English specialist Judd Power. The block is 5.2 liters and delivers 840 hp and 650 Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed sequential gearbox.
Solus GT weighs only 1000 kilos
In addition, the McLaren Solus GT weighs only 1000 kilograms. So he’s a featherweight. One that accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of more than 320 km/h.
It is not officially known how much money the 25 lucky buyers paid for the extreme McLaren, but the asking price is said to be more than 3.6 million US dollars. That is now around 3.2 million euros.
