The almost 1100 hp Porsche Vision 357 Speedster makes Goodwood unsafe
And the 75th anniversary of Porsche continues. This is another gift the southern German manufacturer is giving itself: the electric Porsche Vision 357 Speedster, which is also a little closer to the 30th anniversary of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
In January of this year, Porsche showed us a study model that we immediately recognized as a futuristic interpretation of the 356, the brand’s first production model. The Vision 357 would also show elements of future Porsche design.
Porsche Vision 357 Speedster at Goodwood
For the Goodwood Festival of Speed - which took place this week – Porsche cut off the roof of the concept car, creating the Porsche Vision 357 Speedster.
Maximum electrical power of 1088 hp
The car is a combination of three different racing vehicles: the chassis comes from the 718 GT4 Clubsport, the electric motors and the battery were donated by the Mission R and technology from the 718 GT4 E-Performance is also on board.
What does that mean in practice? Well, Porsche is keeping a big secret. However, if we look at the Mission R’s specifications, we can assume that the Vision 357 Speedster has a constant power output of 680 hp, with short-term peaks of up to 1088 hp.
Tarpaulin on the right side of the cabin
As befits a Speedster, the windshield of the Porsche Vision 357 has been shortened. Typical for a competition car from the 1950s is the elevation behind the driver’s seat and the tonneau cover on the right-hand side of the cab.
A small nod to the 356 is the camera mirrors, which aren’t mounted on the doors but a little further forward on the front fenders. If you look closely, you’ll also see circular lighting on the nose of the Vision 357, just like the 356.
