This one-of-a-kind Ferrari racer is built to stand still
This unique Ferrari KC23 is a 488 GT3 racer under the skin. It was designed by the Special Projects department on behalf of a wealthy client, so it’s unlikely to be racing any time soon.
A few weeks ago we were introduced to the SF90 XX Stradale and Spider (watch the video on our Youtube channel), of which Ferrari builds a fairly large, limited series: 799 coupes and 599 spiders.
Ferrari collects 1.1 billion
A quick calculation tells us that Ferrari rakes in around 1.1 billion euros with the SF90 XX, which costs at least 770,000 euros as a Stradale and 840,000 euros as a Spider. This KC23 is undoubtedly much more expensive.
Special project for a customer
Ferrari does not name a price, but since it is a car from the Special Projects department and was built in an edition of 1, the buyer must have paid several million for it.
KC23 with stripped interior
At first glance it is not immediately clear that the KC23 is a racing car. It looks almost street legal. Only when you open the butterfly doors do you see the stripped-down interior with a roll cage and racing wheel.
Where does the name come from?
Incidentally, why the special Ferrari was given the name KC23 is a mystery. The letters KC are probably the initials of the customer.
Removable rear wing
Distinctive design elements of the model are the removable rear wing – which, like the roof arches of the Citroën C3 Pluriel, does not fit into the interior if you want to take it with you – and the automatically opening air intakes on the sides.
Eight-cylinder 488 GT3 Evo
Ferrari does not name the specifications of the KC23, but in the rear there is undoubtedly the 3.9-liter V8 of the 488 GT3 Evo. We assume that the power source will produce around 700 hp, as in the 488 GT M.
Two sets of alloy wheels
The funny thing is that the KC23 comes with two sets of wheels: 18-inch wheels for the track and a combination of 21-inch wheels in the front and 22-inch wheels in the rear when the car is stationary. Because the particular creation will no doubt do so often, in an air-conditioned garage beneath a main villa.
