The 5 most important innovations of the Peugeot 208 and e-208

Peugeot unveils the facelifted Peugeot 208 and e-208. The current successful model has been around for four years and should be able to cope with it again with this update. We present the five most important innovations.

The 208 was launched in 2012. The second generation followed in 2019 and the model also became electric. Not entirely without success, as more E-208s were sold than 208s with combustion engines.

Five main innovations of the Peugeot 208 and e-208

To continue the success, here is the facelift of the Peugeot 208 and e-208.

  1. new nose

You will probably immediately recognize that the nose of this Peugeot 208 differs from its predecessor. Although it’s still recognizable as a 208, a few things have changed. For example, Peugeot is making the grille a bit larger and the daytime running lights are now divided.

The lower part of the daytime running lights now consists of three LED strips instead of one and is a nod to Peugeot’s lion’s claw. The headlights have also been renewed.

  1. Changes the rear and colors of the Peugeot 208

At the rear, the differences are less clear. Only the logo disappears from the tailgate and the font of the model name is different.

You can also see an E on the C-pillar, which of course refers to the E-208, and new colors are offered: Jaune Aguenda (Lime Green) and Gris Selenium (a kind of Nardo Grey). The mirror caps of the new Peugeot 208 are always black.

  1. Two electric powertrains

The new Peugeot 208 is available with the well-known 1.2 three-cylinder engine, delivering 75 or 100 hp. There is bigger news in the electric drives. The 136 hp version with a 50 kWh battery and a range of 362 kilometers is still available.

There is also a version with 156 hp and a 51 kWh battery that will take you 400 kilometers. This powertrain is not entirely new. Peugeot has had this variant in production for some time.

  1. Peugeot 208 as mild hybrid

Not really new, so this petrol and electric 208 from Peugeot. The mild hybrid drives are new. There is a choice of a 100 hp or 136 hp drive train, consisting of the 1.2-liter three-cylinder and a starter/generator.

Whichever version you choose, you always get a six-speed automatic. According to the manufacturer, consumption is 15 percent lower than the same model without a 48-V system.

  1. New infotainment

The Peugeot 208 and e-208 have a new infotainment screen. Each version now features a 10-inch display. So far it was 7 inches by default.

The new Peugeot 208 and e-208 can be ordered in November this year. The price is still unknown.
