These dangerous roads and bottlenecks will not be addressed! Ride? Nitrogen
Work on fourteen roads in the Netherlands has been suspended for the time being, reports De Telegraaf. That includes tackling a dangerous N-road and one of last year’s traffic jam tops. The reason why the projects are not carried out? The nitrogen problem.
“It’s disappointing,” said Infrastructure Minister Harbers. He is therefore investing the 4 billion euros earmarked for the new road projects in the maintenance of additional infrastructure.

According to the VVD member, it will simply not be possible to carry out the planned road construction. Not only is there a shortage of nitrogen space, but there is also a shortage of manpower. Due to the rising prices in the construction industry, Harbers also lacks the money to implement all the plans.
The money is now flowing into the comprehensive maintenance of the infrastructure
“It feels very double,” says Harbers. “On the one hand we consider these projects to be necessary and want to build roads, but on the other hand we also see that this is not possible in the short term.”
The minister is trying to influence the postponement of the road works positively: “We can now spend the money on urgently needed maintenance work and not leave it lying around.”
These road projects will not be implemented
Harkers had already announced in March that it would have to significantly reduce the construction of new infrastructure. Now there is clarity as to which projects will suffer from the lack of money and nitrogen space.
It runs under the N35 between Wijthmen and Nijverdal. There are many safety concerns there as there are no clear lines and there are trees near the road.
The access road from the A4 Haaglanden to the N14 will also be removed. The route was one of the traffic jams of 2022 and will only get busier, according to Rijkswaterstaat.
The situation will not improve on the following roads for the time being:
