Look at this! Opel did what we asked for in December…
“Tell Opel build this Rocks-e real quick!” we asked last December when the brand introduced this crazy Rocks-eXtreme. At that time it was still a computer drawing. Now the spoiled small car is real.
Opel built it. Unfortunately not for sale of course. The car with the tires sticking out of the wheel arches and the razor-sharp rear spoiler is too illegal for that. The Rocks E-Extreme is the result of a design competition for young talents and design students.

The prize went to an industrial design student, Lukas Wenzhöfer. He wanted to turn the Opel Rocks-e into an off-road vehicle with a wow effect, because “off-road capability stands for a feeling of freedom, while the increased sportiness promises additional driving fun,” explains Wenzhöfer.
Opel faced a challenge because the manufacturer wanted to stay as close as possible to Wenzhöfer’s computer illustrations with this real Rocks-eXtreme. Among other things, the “visor” and the fenders were made with a 3D printer.
The outermost rear wing is made of carbon fiber. Motorsport enthusiasts might recognize it. It comes from the Opel Vectra GTS V8, which competed in the DTM championship in 2004 and 2005.
Derived from the Citroën Ami with a range of 75 kilometers
The Opel Rocks-E is a derivative of the Citroën Ami, which is not officially delivered in the Netherlands. Both have a 5.5 kWh battery, a range of up to 75 kilometers and a 12 hp electric motor.
Officially, the Rocks-E (and thus also the Ami) is considered a moped. This means that you can drive it with a moped driver’s license (or car driver’s license) from the age of 16. Fiat also recently unveiled a variant of the Rocks-e, the Topolino.
