That’s why car insurance has become twice as expensive
Cars are expensive, gas is expensive, maintenance is expensive and to make matters worse, car insurance is expensive too. In fact, premiums have doubled in seven years. For this reason…
According to a study by Independer, car insurance premiums have increased by 19.6 percent compared to June last year. This corresponds to an average price increase of 160 euros per year for liability insurance.
Car insurance more expensive due to high repair costs
Other car insurance policies have also become significantly more expensive in twelve months. For WA+ you now pay 14.1 percent more (around 119 euros extra) and for All-Risk the increase is 8 percent (plus 80 euros).
Why are premiums increasing so quickly? “The number of traffic accidents will have increased by more than 10 percent in 2022,” says Menno Dijcks from Independer. “But repairs have not become cheaper in the past year due to rising labor costs and more expensive parts.”
Residents of South Holland pay the highest premiums
However, the regional differences are large. Car owners in Drenthe, Friesland and Groningen are slightly wrong with premium increases of between 15 and 16 percent. In Brabant, an increase of “only” 9.5 percent must be expected.
Incidentally, these percentages say nothing about the absolute amount of the premiums. Residents of South Holland pay the most, on average 1030 euros per year. North Holland and Utrecht follow with 950 and 915 euros.
