The Bentley T1 may be the “sportier” version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, but outfitting it with a roll cage, racing harness and limited-slip differential…

This remarkable Bentley T1 is for sale at the Cool Classic Club in Naarden for €49,500. As you can see, it’s not entirely original anymore, with a heroic-looking tow lug and a whole battery of extra lights on the nose.

The changes are also noticeable at the rear of the once stately sedan. Above the Silverstone and Zandvoort decals, the huge roll cage can be seen through the rear window. Above it is written in white letters: Bentley Racing.

Wood, leather and a whole range of rally meters

Inside it’s still wood and leather. Only the dashboard is littered with a number of distinctive gauges, buttons and gauges. This T1 is prepared for classic rallies, that much is clear.

Is the 6.2 V8 so loud that you can’t hear yourself?

Two blue racing belts and a pair of headphones hang from the sturdy roll cage. Apparently, the Bentley is so loud that the driver and front passenger can only talk to each other via microphones.

With real locking differential on the rear axle

In order to better transfer its 203 hp from a 6.2-liter V8 to the tarmac, the owner (who also converted and restored the T1) fitted a limited-slip differential on the rear axle.

Race number as a reminder of the year of manufacture

The start number on the flanks is not an infantile sex joke like Elon Musk would make it, but the year of manufacture of the T1. Since 1969, the classy British sedan hasn’t run more than 150,000 kilometers, so it could do with a little more…
