Will this electric Porsche break the Nürburgring record?
Porsche has existed for 75 years and spoils itself. Not only does the automaker say it’s time for a new logo, the German sports car maker is also unveiling the new Porsche Mission X, a terrifyingly fast hypercar. Oh, and, like the Rimac Nevera, it’s electric.
Porsche has built a number of hypercars throughout its long history. Depending on what you classify as a hypercar, models like the 959 (a technological masterpiece from the 1980s), the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder – the most expensive used car in the Netherlands – can be called hypercars. The latter is now getting a successor with the Porsche Mission X. An electric hypercar that has to gobble up the lap record on the Nürburgring.
Porsche Mission X as an electric hypercar
It should come as no surprise that the Porsche Mission X is electric. Rimac has already shown with its Nevera what electric drive can mean for a car. This Croatian hypercar recently broke 23 different world records in one day. With its exorbitant performance of almost 2,000 hp, the Nevera provided the necessary “ooohs” and “aaahs”. Therefore, it is not surprising that Porsche decided to invest in Rimac.
The Porsche Mission X has to put the Rimac Nevera to the test. The brand states that the electric hypercar will produce at least 1 hp per kilogram, which will probably also mean an output of almost 2,000 hp. The Porsche shamelessly enters Rimac territory.
The big promises don’t stop there. Porsche also wants to break the Nürburgring record for street-legal cars in the name of the Mission X. Additionally, the brand claims that the Porsche Mission X is designed to generate more downforce than the 911 GT3 RS, a sports car known for its track orientation and downforce.
concept car
When can we expect the Porsche Mission X? That’s not the right question. The question is will it come. Although there is an electric hypercar ready to go looks like it’s a different one concept car. However, partly due to the way Porsche envisions the car, it appears that the Mission X will actually be the successor to the Porsche 918 Spyder.
