These are the 10 most expensive and cheapest communities to charge your electric car

Just like refueling, charging your electric car is more expensive in some places than others. Independent lists the prices and finds out which province is the most expensive.

What you have to pay per kWh depends heavily on the municipality. The study shows, for example, that you can pay up to 35 cents more per kWh in the most expensive municipality than in the cheapest. The quantities mentioned are measured at public charging stations. Finally, charging your electric vehicle with fast chargers is much more expensive.

The most expensive municipality to charge your electric car is Terschelling. You pay an average of 0.60 euros per kWh at the public charging station. Charging your electric car is also mostly expensive in Utrecht, followed by South West Fryslân.

Compared to the expensive municipalities, charging your electric car in these ten municipalities is very cheap. In the Netherlands, you pay an average of 0.39 euros per kWh at the public charging station. In these communities, charging is significantly cheaper.

Tips to charge your electric car more cheaply

Apart from moving, you can hardly change anything in your community. However, there are other tips on how you can charge your electric car more cheaply. For example, charging at home when possible is often cheaper. Another good tip is: avoid underground parking spaces. This costs an average of 16.8% more than elsewhere in the community.
