You can soon find this floating Easter egg in the Netherlands
Car enthusiasts will immediately recognize the similarities between this Microlino and the classic BMW Isetta. And indeed, the designers of the electric city carts took the Mini-Germans from back then as a model.
The Microlino, built by the Swiss company Micro Mobility Systems, was presented more than five years ago and is now actually coming to the Netherlands. Louwman, importer of Toyota and Lexus, among others, will sell the mischievous car here.
No moped! Microlino is a full-fledged car
Can you compare the Microlino with the Opel Rocks-e? A little. The big difference is that the Opel is a micro car with a top speed of 45 km/h and the Microlino is a pretty full car.
Top speed 90 km/h and range 230 kilometers
It is powered by a 17 hp and 89 Nm electric motor, which is good for a top speed of 90 km/h. The base model has a 6 kWh battery and a range of 95 kilometers. You can also opt for one with a 10.5 or 14 kWh battery. Then it is 175 or 230 kilometers.
Entry is via the hinged front
The Microlino is only 2.5 meters long (similar to a Smart Fortwo) and offers space for two people and up to 230 liters of luggage (which is a surprising amount). Entry is via the front, which, like the BMW Isetta, can be opened completely.
On the market in the Netherlands already after the summer holidays
According to Louwman, the small electro-Swiss should come onto the market this year, probably after the summer. What the modern bubble car will cost is not known. We expect a price between 18,000 and 22,000 euros. And that’s why it’s not good…
